A message from Mari sensei:
A Rare Opportunity to Experience Reiki Through a Living Tradition
I have been invited by the Redwood Women’s Foundation to present Jikiden Reiki lectures/seminar as an honorarium lecturer/facilitator in McKinleyville, California.
The Reiki founded by Mikao Usui Sensei in 1922 was passed to Chujiro Hayashi Sensei and then directly to the Yamaguchi family in Japan.
What makes Jikiden Reiki unique is not simply its history, but the way it has been preserved.
Historical records show that from the 1930s through the 1950s, members of the Yamaguchi family gathered regularly with relatives, friends, and neighbors for hands-on Reiki practice.
Week after week, year after year, Reiki was shared through direct experience.
Because of this, Jikiden Reiki was not preserved only in books, manuals, or written records.
It was passed on through practice.
Hand to hand.
Eye to eye.
Person to person.
Since 1930s!
Much like the traditional skills of Japanese temple carpenters, tea masters, or master craftsmen, some knowledge can only be fully understood through direct transmission and experience.
This is the spirit of Jikiden Reiki.
For over 20 years, I have dedicated myself to this practice. I have had the privilege of working closely with Tadao Yamaguchi Sensei as his translator, organizing seminars in Canada for more than a decade, and sharing these teachings in both English and Japanese.
What I offer is not only Reiki technique.
I share the feeling, culture, and living tradition that has been passed down through generations.
For those who feel called to experience Reiki closer to its Japanese roots, this seminar offers a rare opportunity to learn directly from that lineage.
Shoden – June 19–20
Okuden – June 21
Shihankaku – June 22
McKinleyville, California
For details and registration, please contact Kausalya Denise Payne-Ollivier directly message her or 707-382-2779 (phone calls only) or email : healingwithreikiandsound@gmail.com

I warmly welcome you to join us.
With gratitude,
Mari Okazaki
Are you in search of authentic Reiki training? Tired of browsing "Reiki near me" without finding the right Reiki class? San Diego Reiki offers the only remaining publicly available traditional Japanese Reiki seminars - Jikiden Reiki®.
Jikiden Reiki® ("directly taught Reiki") lineage is the original Reiki method which was taught by the founder of Reiki Mikao Usui, which has been passed down to Chiyoko Yamaguchi directly by Dr. Hayashi, one of Mikao Usui's main disciples.
Unlike other Reiki teachings, Jikiden Reiki remains unaltered and untouched by Western influences, preserving the original method as it was practiced in Japan. It is the truest form of Reiki instruction you'll find, honoring the authenticity of this traditional Japanese mind-body healing practice.
Join Jikiden Reiki seminars with Dr. Danilychev, MD and other teachers at San Diego Reiki and experience the profound teachings of original Reiki.
Learn Shoden (Reiki level 1) with Peter Price, a certified Jikiden Reiki Shihan-Kaku (Shoden teacher)! In just one weekend you will learn all the most important Reiki techniques and will be able to give effective hands-on Reiki to yourself and others!
Having a background in aerospace engineering has certainly made Peter a skeptic when he was first learning Reiki. However, after a few years of Reiki practice, the effectiveness of Reiki became so undeniable to Peter, that he decided to share this amazing mind-body healing art with others.
In April 2024 Peter became a first-level teacher at the Jikiden Reiki Institute in Kyoto, Japan. Here is Peter's Reiki lineage:
Mikao Usui → Dr. Hayashi → Chiyoko Yamaguchi → Tadao Yamaguchi → Peter Price
If you have an analytical mindset but are also curious about holistic health, then Peter is the best teacher to learn from! Not to mention his vast experience in Reiki and his amazing ability to explain things by making even the most complicated subjects easy to understand. Peter is also very patient and supportive - a great teacher all around!
Next class dates with Peter Price at Mission Valley location are Saturday-Sunday 06/27-06/28/26 10am -6pm.

Your Jikiden Reiki certification allows you to join our weekly practice and monthly review with Reiju. This is where you get to experience true apprenticeship-type learning with your teacher.
All students (even those who have been practicing Reiki for many years) are encouraged to attend. Practice meeting are open to all Jikiden Reiki practitioners who completed Shoden and/or Okuden or teacher training with any Jikiden Reiki instructor (not just at San Diego Reiki).
Please email us at healing@sdreiki.com for more information.
It is typical for traditional Japanese practices, including martial and healing arts to have distinct levels of training and to follow the Iemoto system. The same is true for traditional Japanese Reiki.
In Shoden (Jikiden Reiki level 1), you will learn the history of Reiki, Reiki principles, and all the essential techniques of hands-on Reiki practice. You will receive three Reiju (attunements) during the Shoden seminar. Class duration 2-3 days. Tuition $350 for new students and $150 for repeating students. (See schedule below for available class dates.) You don't need to do anything specific to prepare for Reiki training - simply arrive with an open mind and enjoy!
Prerequisite: successful completion of Shoden. In Okuden (Jikiden Reiki level 2), we will dive deeper into the practice of Reiki, connecting to Reiki for mental blocks, emotional challenges, and bad habits, as well as self-Reiki and distance Reiki. You will receive two Reiju during Okuden. Class duration 1-2 days. Tuition $400 for new students, $100 for repeating students. You will receive a Jikiden Reiki Practitioner Certification upon Okuden completion. (See schedule below for available class dates.)
After completing Shoden and Okuden, and at least 6 months of practice, you can apply for Shihan-Kaku training. After teaching Shoden for a while as a Shihan-Kaku, you can apply for Shihan training.
Where is the master/teacher training offered?
While we don’t offer teacher/master level training directly, we occasionally set up Shihan-Kaku training in San Diego with one of the Dai-Shihans, and all of our students are certainly welcome to attend.
Shihan or a DaiShihan levels you can learn only from Tadao Yamaguchi sensei in Japan. Tadao Yamaguchi is the Dai-Hyo (representative) of the Jikiden Reiki lineage and is the only person who can teach/initiate all levels: Shoden, Okuden, Shihan-Kaku, Shihan, and Dai-Shihan.
While Reiki energy is the same regardless of the level of training, each level contains more depth of understanding and additional honor and responsibility.
It may take many years to reach the highest level but that's not the focus - just being there and helping yourself and others in a simple and natural way - that's the point of learning Reiki.
